The History: A couple of years ago, I started journaling my prayers and God's responses to them. I told my friends about this, they were really interested. I told my Pastor about it and he said, how about sharing those on line. When I asked God, He said, my words are for you, but not just for you. And, here we are...I hope He speaks to you in these words.

Condition of your heart...

My prayer:

Amazing and awesome God. I don't really have anything to say tonight but I would love to hear your voice.

What God Said Tonight:

A prayer from your heart, from your spirit is often ten times more impactful than a prayer from your mouth. I like to hear your words, but I don't need them to know what you need and what you want. I don't need them to know you.

Words are important, they are powerful. But stronger than the words are the heart of a man. I know you work hard to do and say the right things but so much more important is the work you have done on your heart.

Everything you do to soften your heart, to let go of bitterness, to forgive, these are the things that let you heart be beautiful. These are the things that let you be the person I created you to be. When your heart changes, when it heals, you don't have to try to say the right things and do the right things. That comes naturally out of the condition of your heart.

Find new ways to forgive every day. Find new ways to feed your heart every day. I have given you only one commandment, to love, but that one commandment covers so much. I give to you tonight the power to have your heart be whole.

Lean on God...

My prayer:

Awesome God, thank you for a really good day. Nothing remarkable, but just good. I pray for your divine health and strength for me, my family, our cat and our dog, and for all your amazing children around the world.

In the midst of all of the craziness in the world, being set apart with you is pretty wonderful. Thank you for your protection and your peace. Thank you for your love. You are so amazing, my God, my Lord, my Saviour, my teacher, my friend.

What God Said Tonight:

I have got this. You do not need to worry. Nothing that is or will be is a surprise to me. I understand what tomorrow will bring and I have prepared you for it.

Walk, hand in hand with me, and we will walk into victory. We will walk into eternity.

I love you and I will ALWAYS take care of you. You are not ever alone. You are never without hope. I love you sweet daughter. Lean on me in everything, I will carry you through.

There are times in life when you don't need to fight or strive but you just need to relax and trust. You are in that time right now. Relax and trust me and my love for you.  I love you.

Grief...

My prayer:

My awesome God. Thank you for today. There were so many examples to remind of the blessings you have put in my life.

My prayer tonight, my request, is for my friend. She suffered such a tremendous loss today. I can't even begin to imagine how devastated she is. I can't even begin to know what I can do or say to help. The very best thing I can think of is to ask you to comfort her. To ask you to help her. Mighty God, she knows and loves you so much. Let her feel your love tonight. Let it overwhelm the grief. Heal her God from this wound that is so deep, please.

Thank you Jesus.

What God Said Tonight:

A babe in the womb who does not make it to this world is blessed in heaven with me. The loss she has is great, it cannot be redeemed. But she will meet her babe one day. She will move on to a tomorrow with new hopes and new dreams.

I am her hope and I never change. She will always have my love and my guidance. I will always lead her and guide her. I will always be her healer.

I am with her now and I will not let go. My children are mine and nothing will take me from them. I love you my daughter and go rest now knowing she is in my care.

The front side of the promise...

My prayer:

Thank you for the answered prayers today God. Your promises are always good but it can be frightening waiting for them sometimes. My life is yours God.

What God Said Tonight:

Waiting only seems long when you are in the middle of it. How often have you gotten to the end of a season, a challenge, and thought, wow, that was fast? How often have you said that during the challenge?

It is not the actual time of waiting that is long it is just the side of the promise that you are on. It is always harder on the front side of the promise. Stay strong in your faith and know that I am God.  I will not let you down.

The liar and the cheat...

My prayer:

Grateful for the blessings of today God. Thank you for giving me such a beautiful day. I pray for rest and restoration tonight God. I want to have the energy to enjoy what you have for me tomorrow!

I really do love you so much. Life with you is pretty amazing.

What God Said Tonight:

My sheep know my voice. My sheep know my Spirit. I am here tonight and every night but there are other voices, other forces with us too. I have faith in you to know my voice.

You will not be fooled by the deception for long. The liar and the cheat will speak into your ear but you will know his lies for what they are. You will know that I do not speak in the way that he does.

He thinks he can fool you. He thinks you won't care what voice speaks, that you will follow whatever voice you hear.

You have shown me your love and dedication. Now you will show him. Our enemy shall not prevail. You will discern my Word correctly. Now and forever my child.

Walk away...

My prayer:

I had some successes and some failures today God. I am not sure where the balance sheet landed at the end of the day.

What I am grateful for is the peace and maturity you have given me to not worry as much about either the failures or the successes. Life is a lot better when I recognize that there will always be successes and failures, no matter what, and if I give it my best shot, that is enough.

I have definitely not always felt that way. It is a better way to live. Thank you for your mercy God and thank you for teaching me how to have mercy on myself.

What God Said Tonight:

Walking away is not always giving up. Walking away can sometimes be the smartest and kindest action to take.

To walk away gives space to the conflict and allows time for grace and mercy to enter in. We are not always quick to forgive but my children, with my Spirit, will come to the place of forgiveness, given the time to do so.

Remember the power and the importance of walking away, for a minute, for a day, for more, to give time for the healing to sink in. I love you. I am with you. You are mine.

Stay to the side...

My prayer:

Awesome God. I have done all that I can today. I am all poured out. I pray for your strength and power to sustain me. If there is any more to do today, I pray you help me to do it. I pray for rest and restoration through the night.

What God Said Tonight:

When you are all poured out, that is when I can really start to work. Where you end is where I am just getting started.

I don't need a mighty man or woman of God who is capable of great oration and persuasion. When people come to Christ from that type of person, their faith is so often tied to the person more than me. They see that person as a god. And, when that person falls, as they so often do, they leave their followers without a foundation.

When you have nothing left to give and you let me shine through without interference, that is when people see me, believe in me, trust in me, and I will never let them down. So, I guess I am saying I am grateful that you are done for the day because now I can shine from you.

I love you. I will give you peace and rest. Then tomorrow, when your energy is returned, remember to stay to the side, stay down, so I can shine. Not for my sake but for the sake of the people you reach.
